The first luau of 2013 got underway at a new venue on a new night, to the benefit of both. More than 150 people descended on the Island Courtyard this past Sunday night, and if they had any apprehensions that our popular summer event wasn’t still poolside on Saturday, their worries were quickly allayed. Attendees enjoyed an island buffet with three entrees (one more than in previous years) and authentic Polynesian-style entertainment from Hot Lava, whose revved-up show was easily …

Consider yourself so very lucky if a portion of your visit this year coincides with the dates of the San Gennaro Feast, an annual celebration that ostensibly honors a saint but is generally patronized for the food. If you are here May 8-12, you owe it to yourself to attend this yearly festival. The San Gennaro Feast has delectable Italian dishes, great entertainment and a variety of games and amusement rides for the entire family. And it’s just 10 miles from …

This year’s luau is getting a makeover. Not only is it moving to a new day and location (details in our upcoming newsletter), but the menu is undergoing a change as well. Rather than spring it on you unawares at the first luau, we thought it prudent for a small test group of Tahiti Village employees to take the first brave bites and offer feedback. Staff members were presented with four main entrées and three salads plus jasmine rice, sweet …

Here’s to the wieners! Tahiti Village hot dog eating team relishes dominant effort in Nathan’s contest victory.

http://blog.tahitivillage.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Hot-dog-eating-contest-cropped4-300x202.jpg

While most of us would rather not consider the contents of a hot dog, nearly all of us think nothing of devouring the delicious All-American favorite at picnics, ballparks and of course the traditional hot dog eating contest, where the greatest gluttony wins a trophy. With that in mind we praise our very own Weenie Gobblers for winning the team competition in the Las Vegas version of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs hot dog eating contest. Gorging themselves against other resort …

http://blog.tahitivillage.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Terry-McMillen-April-3-2013-21-300x294.jpg

Terry McMillen’s first Tahiti Village appearance of 2013, on April 3, attracted a large group of owners and visitors to the main lobby entrance, where they met the NHRA drag racer, sat in his vehicle and competed for great prizes. We set up a 13-foot electric slot car track with matching Terry McMillen dragsters, and Terry brought his own Eliminator game to determine the Fastest Thumb in the West. Slot car race winners and Eliminator champion Teresa Bartholomew earned their …

http://blog.tahitivillage.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Easter-Egg-26-300x251.jpg

Τhe annual Easter egg grab, the most anticipated event on our spring activity calendar, attracted upwards of 200 youngsters this past Saturday to the Lazy River, where they filled waiting baskets with plastic candy-filled eggs. The colorful bounty was hidden under lounge chairs and in the lush green foliage of the hunting grounds. The latter proved no impediment whatsoever to these ravenous collectors, who waded into the thick jungle to gather the treasure. The eggs, according to Tahiti Village activities manager …
